Digital Pictures (Scanned)
Scanning your Pictures Pictures are to be scanned as .jpg files at the highest level possible (e.g. 600dpi) as this is required to maintain the quality of print we sell. If required they are to be retouched removing spots, creases and the ravages of time. If damage is too excessive LPC reserves the right to refuse any picture it feels is too damaged or offer to repair the damage at an extra charge.
Saving your Pictures The file name structure is 'Your ID'-'Category'-'No'.jpg (i.e: TD-Seaside-02.jpg). 'Your ID' is the number we sent to you when you registered; 'Category' it is better if you can divide your pictures into different groups but you can have just one; 'No.' is the number within the group for that picture. Strict adherence to this structure is important for us to ensure that any commission due will be paid to the correct person. If you have an archive that has a different file structure (or are saved in other formats such as TIFF) you can submit it unaltered but we may make a charge for altering it to conform to our structure.
Descriptions and KeywordsThe pictures are to be submitted on a single CD which also includes an MS Excel spreadsheet of keywords ( Click here for an example). If MS Excel is not available OpenOffice can be used and, if you don't have this programme, it can be downloaded free from www.openoffice.org. Keywords should include: date the picture was created, place, who created the picture, what is the event, who is in the picture and their title. If more than one person identify each one and the relationship to each other and to anyone outside the picture.
